THE CHALLENGE

If you use Fleishmann’s Yeast, there is a good chance it was made at AB Mauri’s Calgary processing plant.

Jadler was approached to fabricate a dual-basket filtration system that would redirect product flow from one basket to another mid-operation. This would allow the dirty basket to be cleaned and sanitized without having to shut down production.

THE SOLUTION

After touring the facility to determine the available footprint and process configuration, Jadler’s fabrication team went to work.

Our solution was to integrate APV SV1 Butterfly Valves with a dual Sanimatic Basket Strainer (COP). The automated system was set to divert product flow from Basket A to Basket B once the pressure reached a select setpoint (based on the concentration of solids in the strainer).

Jadler calculated the sizing of the various components and completed all TIG welding, and frame mounting.

The new system is working as planned. Continuous operation has helped improve efficiency, while the automated process means operators no longer need to sit glued to a sensor.
